Tropical Storm or Hurricane?
Well what will it be? We still have to wait to find out. The latest report puts landfall directly in Lee County tomorrow. It feels like deja vu. This is a similar path to what Hurricane Charley took back in 2004. Although Charley(category 4) made landfall north of where we were the winds were unbelievable. Charley was predicted to be a category 2 but strengthened over the warmer waters of the Gulf of Mexico before making it to the Florida peninsula. Fay right now is a Tropical Storm over Cuba. Once she enters the Gulf of Mexico all bets are on! The Gulf water temperature right now is 88 degrees. That is a conducive temp for hurricane strengthening. So will she be a 1 or higher. Stay tuned for further updates!
